Customized dares: What you should know!

Yes, you can write your own truths and dares in the Truth or Dare app. Open the custom dares section, start each dare with an emoji (👩 for a woman, 👨 for a man, 😏 for a random player), choose truth or dare, pick a level from Fun to Extreme, then play with your dares alone or mixed with ours.
How to write custom truth or dare challenges
To start, here are the emojis that will help you with your writing:
👨 a man
👩 a woman
😏 a random player (man or woman)
Here is how it works, step by step:
- Start your dare with an emoji. If you put 👩, the dare will always be given to a woman. If you start with 👨, it will always be given to a man. With 😏, the game picks a random player.
- If your dare involves more than two players, add as many emojis as you need. When you play, the emojis are replaced by the names of the players you’ve entered.
- Choose whether it is a dare or a truth.
- Place it in the level that suits it best: Fun, Soft, Hot, Hard or Extreme.
Example of a correct dare:
👩exchange your clothes with 👨
In the game, it will be displayed like this: “Priya, exchange your clothes with Liam”
Writing tips
If you use the neutral emoji (😏), the dare can target anyone, with no distinction between men and women.
Example: 😏, do 😏’s makeup like your favorite actress. This dare could give “Priya, do Liam’s makeup like your favorite actress”, or the other way round. A one in two chance!
If you play with several players, the same emoji will never produce the same name twice.
Example: 👩 you are blindfolded, 👨 feed 👩 a spoonful of the food of your choice. With at least three players, this dare gives: “Priya, you are blindfolded, Liam, feed Maya a spoonful of the food of your choice”. Here the dare loses its meaning, because Priya is the one who should have eaten the spoonful.
If you are playing as a couple, do not add more than two emojis to your dare.
Organize and save your custom dares
When you have finished writing your dare, you can choose whether it is a dare or a truth, and place it in the level that suits it best: Fun, Soft, Hot, Hard or Extreme.
To make sure you never lose your carefully written dares, sign in with your Apple or Google account. This saves your dares, so if you uninstall the app or change your phone, all you have to do is sign in again to see them reappear.
Play with your own dares!
You can choose to play only with your custom dares, or to mix them with the dares already in the game, written by us. A word of advice: don’t select “Play with my custom dares only” unless you have written a lot of them, because the game may end quickly.

We still want to improve the custom dare editor a lot in the future, and your ideas are very important! We are already thinking about ways to sort and filter your dares, and a search field to find everything you’ve written on a specific topic.
Some of you have also asked for a computer version, which would be more comfortable for writing dares with a keyboard. We’ve noted it. Maybe one day?
